A Deep Dive into Bow Ties

With horse race season upon us, Wiz and Milli do a quick breakdown on bow tie selection - a critical aspect of any race-worthy wardrobe. (Sidenote: No Clip-ons, No Brown Ties)

The Standard: Stripes

Wiz: Standard. Not much to see or say here. Will garner just enough attention to get noticed but nothing more. Easy to pair with color-wise and useful for multiple occasions.

Milli: Exactly like a striped tie. Sometimes classic is just a euphemism for boring.

How You'll Feel:

Wiz: 4/10 - Like a First Timer or an Old Timer

Milli: 4/10 - Like you should have opted for a different tie

The Fun: Solid with Icons

Wiz: This can work within reason - keep the icons small, like on the left (and nothing approaching the tie on the right). Good for fun events, but not as versatile as some of the others.

Milli: No one wears a bow tie to blend in. This is why you wear a bow tie.

How You'll Feel:

Wiz: 6/10 - Like you just asked a girl for her digits - either awesome, or awful

Milli: 8/10 - Like the prettiest girl at the bar

The Versatile: Reversible

Wiz: More so a type of tie than a style/pattern. I like the ability to get two for the price of one, and usually at least one side is a more conservative/classic look.

Milli: I'm not cheap like Wiz, so I guess I don't appreciate the reversible bow tie. I'm generally not a fan of reversible clothing.

How You'll Feel:

Wiz: 7/10 - Beer in one hand, liquor in the other

Milli: 1/10 - Reversible bow tie in one hand, reversible sports coat in the other

All the Rage: Plaid

Wiz: A simple style, yet so many different color options between the tie itself and the shirt/tie combination. A great spring/summer option

Milli: I love plaid everything, so I'm biased here. Surprisingly hard to pair with a plaid shirt.

How You'll Feel:

Wiz: 8/10 - Like a kid with a new pack of 64 Crayola Crayons

Milli: 8/10 - Taste the rainbow

The Classic: Paisley

Wiz: An old yet resurgent style. Pairing a solid paisley tie with a nice pastel shirt can be a great look. Why not make it a reversible though??

Milli: This tie looks like your grandmother's furniture. But, retro can be fashionable.

How You'll Feel:

Wiz:
5/10 - Like you've got an iPhone 3 in your pocket

Milli: 7/10 - Like an old-timey robber baron
